Teri Ortt began her career in education in 1990 after graduating from Santa Clara University with degrees in Political Science and Spanish. Motivated by the idea to use her Spanish skills with the Los Angeles Community, she began the credentialing process with the District Intern Program offered by The Los Angeles Unified School District. For 13 years Teri worked for the LAUSD as a bilingual educator, mentor teacher, and school leader. Teri’s enthusiasm for education led her to pursue a Master’s degree in American Studies at Pepperdine University, and later a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, also from Pepperdine. Taking time off to raise a family, Ms. Ortt left the classroom to explore the study of yoga. This new passion resulted in certifications from YogaEd and Yogaworks. Yearning to reconnect with Los Angeles students, Teri developed yoga programs for at-risk youth in the LAUSD and other schools in the Pasadena area. Always in search of the next chalIenge, Teri continues to explore new terrain in holistic approaches to wellness, and with her volunteer work at The International Rescue Committee. She is honored to be part of the vibrant learning community at Equitas Academy.
