Ms. Perez is looking forward to working side by side with Equitas educators and scholars on their journey to college and beyond. She firmly believes that high expectations will help scholars become all that they are capable of becoming. She studied Feminist Studies and Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. On the same day that she graduated, she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to become a middle school math teacher. There she was also able to support student learning as an instructional coach, grade level chair, and school culture coordinator. Ms. Perez earned her masters in Educational Leadership from Columbia University. Again, on the same day that she graduated she moved back to California to be closer to family and to teach 7th grade math at KIPP Academy of Opportunity in South LA. In her second year at Equitas Academy, she is eager to continue to equip scholars with the knowledge they need for college and the character traits to change the world. When not in the classroom, you can find her reading, hiking, cooking, or volunteering to get high school students ready for college.
