Ms. Luna is excited to join the Equitas team and believes in the mission that all scholars are deserving of a college education, and is determined to ensure she builds equity, access, and inclusiveness for all scholars. Ms. Luna loves learning and is passionate about education as she knows the profound impact and value of it as a first generation college graduate. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology & International Development Studies with a minor in Education Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. During her journey to Equitas she served as a case manager at a homeless shelter in her community where she had the opportunity to work closely with displaced families and help them find the necessary resources to become stable and self-sufficient. She also had the opportunity to work closely with the homeless and foster youth liaison for the school district to ensure the students at the shelter had access to the resources necessary to succeed in school, which further ignited her passion for education. Her current role is as the 6th grade science teacher at Equitas Academy 2. She is excited to meet the scholars, learn and grow with them, and cultivate long lasting relationships with them. When she is not in the classroom, Ms. Luna enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and being outdoors.
