Ms. Martinez is excited to be working at Equitas Academy because she strongly believes in the Equitas mission and feels it is important to encourage scholars to attend college. As a child she was raised to believe that with hard work and perseverance, college is attainable despite any educational or personal obstacles. She looks forward to sharing this belief with the scholars and helping them achieve their goal of attending college. She believes it is imperative to encourage scholars to be open to new experiences and to be optimistic of their future. Ms. Martinez has worked as a youth development specialist for the Boys and Girls Club where her passion for working with children was reignited. She has also volunteered at Hoover Elementary and Arlington Elementary where she acquired the skills necessary for ensuring that scholars feel supported and safe in their environment. Ms. Martinez recently graduated from the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology. She is currently taking children development and psychology courses in order to apply for a masters program in child psychology. Her final career goal is to attain a Ph.D in school psychology. During her free time Ms. Martinez enjoys reading and going to the beach.
