Ms. Perez is looking forward to working side by side with Equitas teachers and scholars on the journey to and through college. She firmly believes that high expectations partnered with showing compassion will help scholars become all that they are capable of becoming. She studied Feminist Studies and Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. On the same day that she graduated, she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to become a middle school math teacher. There she was also able to support student learning as an instructional coach, grade level chair, and school culture coordinator. Ms. Perez earned her masters in Educational Leadership from Columbia University. Again, on the same day that she graduated, she moved back to California to be closer to family and to teach 7th grade math at KIPP Academy of Opportunity in South LA. After 14 years in education, she is serving in the role of School Director at Equitas Academy 2. She is eager to continue working to make EQ2 a place where productive struggle is a path to achieving each person’s goals.  When not on campus, you can find her spending time with her family.
